Restoril

Restoril (Temazepam) is the brand name for a prescription sleeping pill. It is in a class of sedative hypnotics called Benzodiazepines. They are the oldest class of sleep medications/drugs that are still commonly in use. Restoril, and Benzodiazepines as a group, are considered to have a higher risk of dependency than other insomnia sedative hypnotics such as Non-Benzodiazepines. Both classes are classified as controlled substances and narcotics, although more recent formulations of the drugs have attempted to lessen the numerous side-effects. These drugs, including Restoril, are now less frequently prescribed than other drugs such as Ambien CR and Lunesta, which are non-benzodiazepines.

The most common side-effects of Restoril include: dizziness, drowsiness, lack of cooridination, and light-headedness. This is serious stuff so medical supervision is essential and should be taken as a last resort to help insomnia.
