Temazepam

Temazepam (Restoril) is the generic name for a prescription sleep aid- pill. It is in a class of sedative hypnotics called Benzodiazepines. They are the oldest class of sleep medications/drugs that are still commonly in use. Temazepam, and Benzodiazepines as a group, are considered to have a higher risk of dependency than other insomnia sedative hypnotics such as Non-Benzodiazepines. Both are classified as controlled substances, although recent formulations of the drugs have attempted to lessen the side-effects. Temazepam is now less frequently prescribed than other sleep aid drugs such as Ambien CR , which is a non-benzodiazepine.

The most common side-effects of Temazepam include: dizziness, drowsiness, lack of cooridination, and light-headedness. This is serious stuff so medical supervision is essential and should be taken as a last resort only to help insomnia and sleep disorders.
